A Proven Leader in Research and Innovation
Dr. Caroline Howe has a distinguished career in research and design, previously leading the iCare research team as Head of Research. In this role, she successfully partnered with six major Australian universities to deliver evidence-based interventions and reports for iCare. Before this, as Acting General Manager of Community Impact, Dr. Caroline Howe collaborated with Griffith University and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to develop a groundbreaking social connections theory for workers’ compensation insurance. Her work focused on creating effective interventions for communities at risk.

As the Manager of Research and Design, Dr. Caroline built an agile team known for its innovative approach to research and design, further solidifying her reputation as a leader in the field.

Dr. Caroline Howe brings a wealth of knowledge in Social Systems and Safety, Organisational Psychology, Social Health, Ageing Workforce Transition, Rehabilitation, and Risk Intelligence. Her expertise is vital in advocating for and facilitating positive change in workplace environments.

Her dedication to outcome-focused workplace rehabilitation in the insurance sector earned her the Excellence in Industry Award for Innovation and Excellence in Personal Injury Management (2012). In 2016, her business was honored with the Workplace Excellence Award for Organisational Design.

A Passion for Community and Fitness
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Caroline is also a qualified personal trainer. She most recently received the “Institute Champion” award from the Australian Institute of Fitness. Caroline uses her passion for fitness to stay connected with and support her local community.

Research Interests
Dr. Caroline Howe’s research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on the development of a social safety framework for employers and communities, the psychological impact of ageing workforces, international disability management programs, and the influence of social connections on workplace culture, mental health, and workers’ compensation recovery.
